Getting My Home Ready to Sell Checklist
1. Consider curb appeal -
Buyers tend to judge a book by its cover. Trim your shrubs, weed your flower beds, fix any peeling paint on your front door. Keep the walkway clear. Add new house numbers. Purchase a new welcome home door mat!
2. Eliminate half of your belongings -
clutter can cost you a sale. Make each room look as large as possible!
3. Make every surface shine-
From ceiling fans to baseboards. Don't forget interior windows, mirrors and floors.
4. Clean Clean Clean -
Scrub every inch of the house. Especially the kitchen, bathroom, water gutters, and windows.
5. Conduct a smell test -
Foul odors can be a deal breaker, and the problem is that you might not even notice them. Invite an honest person over to detect any pet smells, or lingering odors from your kitchen. DON'T cook bacon/fish the night of a showing.
6. Depersonalize each room-
Remove family photos. Safety is important!
7. Let go emotionally of your home -
Get ready for an offer, they will come. Do not get cold feet. Be reasonable.
8. Add Fresh Paint -
Repaint walls to neutral tones. Touch up any scuff marks
9. Fix any missing light bulbs
10. Close the toilet -
When it comes to both showing and photographing your home, this little trick can make a surprising difference.
